ホテルを泊まり歩くようになる前に、２人で一時身を寄せた別の友人宅で、この家の親名義のクレジットカード情報を盗み、各ホテルの宿泊代はこのカードで支払っていた。加古川市の少年は「どうせ人のお金だから、高いホテルに泊まろうと思った」と話しているという。
